DESIGN & MANUFACTURE
Good design is a fundamental aim of the company to ensure that reliable products
meet exacting customer specifications with the customer's requirements of paramount
importance. Mechanical design takes full account of the functional and environmental
specifications to suit different customer demands. All products are manufactured
to comply with ISO9001 standards. At the manufacturing stage there is a highly
dedicated and professional team to ensure that the product is of the very best
quality.
INSTALLATION AND AFTER SALES
Our experienced Technical and Installation team is on hand to assist customers
wherever necessary from installation, testing, training and commission systems
to technical support of the system in a wide variety of applications. All cables,
termination and connections to other equipment are carefully concealed to leave
a neat and professional installation. Beyond the commissioning and training
stage the company provides an extensive return to workshop service facility
and on site maintenance contract. Our policy is to fully support the product
throughout its operational life with a spares supply maintained for 5 years
or more.
PolyComp has
become a market leader in the field of Programmable
Electronic Display Systems and is able to offer a vast
range of displays to meet a wide variety of customer
applications, whether Single Line, By-Line, Multi Line,
Time/Temperature Units or Animated Graphic Boards,
Internal or External Signs.
The range of Displays include: LED Displays for Indoor and Outdoor use in either
Single Colour (Red, Green or Yellow) or in Tri - Colour (All three colours),
which can be creatively and imaginatively used to display eye-catching text
effects. Standard Character Sizes range from 30 mm to 300 mm, number of characters
from 16 to 40 per line and number of lines from 1 to 8 with the option of By-Line,
displaying text over 1 or lines to create double height text. We supply Indoor
and Outdoor Graphic and Animation Boards for Pictures and Text, these can be
used to great effect showing animated or video images in real time. The boards
are available in Multi or Full Colour options. A full range of Electro-mechanical
boards are available for Traffic Control, Scoreboards etc. We have over 3500
products in our standard product range. We have developed some advanced software
to allow us to adapt a number of highly engineered modules into most applications.
By reducing the number of individual components used and by, on the one hand,
making use of large scale integrated circuits and on the other by making those
individual components which are required very simple, a number of advantages
accrue. Among these are: (i) The number of printed circuit boards is reduced
significantly from nearly all the other sign manufacturers designs in the world.
(ii) The overall component count is reduced improving reliability and MTBF.
(iii) The sign is physically very thin making mounting and replacement much
easier. (iv) The number of plugs and sockets is dramatically reduced improving
reliability (v) Less hand-soldering is required improving reliability. (vi)
The control of electro-magnetic compatibility (EMC) is simpler making compliance
with published standards easier. (vii) The costs are less than competing designs.
Our design will call for the sign to be manufactured to very high commercial
standards including the use of Conformal coatings as appropriate. This will
ensure proper operation over a wide range of environmental conditions and should
provide for a long service life.
APPROVALS
PolyComp have a number of approvals which relate directly to the Electronics
Industry. These include: CE - Our Manufacturing plant has invested
considerably in this area to virtually become an accredited test house.
All products are extensively tested to ensure full EMC compatibility.
Electromagnetic Compatibility - When the displays are used in accordance
with our recommendations they comply with European Community Electromagnetic
Compatibility Directive and conform to the following standards: EN50082-1
EN60950 IEC950.

BBC
We have recently installed a large external display on the
top of BBC Television Centre, to show election coverage, news
stories and general information.
The displays is 16 metres in length and has a 500mm character
height and is a
stunning example of an external display.
Vodafone
One of our latest and most prestigious projects has been to
install an interactive electronic display for Vodafone at
Picadilly Circus in London. One of the first of its kind in
the world.
Las Vegas
We have supplied a number of large complex sign systems to various sites
in Las Vegas. The signs had to function in very harsh environments with extreme
temperature ranges.
Fulham
FC
A
large scoreboard was recently installed at Craven
Cottage for Fulham Football Club.
Bournemouth
AFC & Aston Villa FC -
Another 2 sporting venues using POLYComp equipment,
in ticket offices and as a scoreboard at Bournemouth
as shown here.
Chase Manhatten Bank
An extensive system of 83 displays was installed linking offices in 3 buildings
communications linked with Radio Modems.
Alcatel, Portugal
A complex system of signs for the Rail Network.
Alstrom
A series of 70 display units acting as an Information System for a Distribution
Depot.
Murrayfield Rugby Stadium
In readiness for the Rugby World Cup, two main scoreboards each measuring 50
feet in length were installed at the ground. Scoreboards are also installed
at Luton Town FC, Wycombe Wanderers FC and Clyde FC)
Bank of England
A Helpdesk System was installed linking the Chelmsford office and London, helping
and advising their system operators. (Helpdesk systems have also been installed
at LloydsTSB, Nationwide, Credit Suisse)
Bloomberg
Two large 80 character, 6 line displays where installed in the London Head
Office, linked to a News feed continually and automatically updating News Headlines,
and a stunning Single line 16mm display running vertically up the centre of
a staircase well. (Similar News Feed Systems were installed at AP Dow Jones,
Reuters and Knight Ridder)
Tall
Ships Race
A series of LED signs were installed the length of the River Thames linked
by modem, showing information on ships and public announcements. (Displays
were also used at 'one-off' events).
The Big Breakfast, Channel 4
Several Displays were hired for Competition captions. (Other Hired Displays
for TV are for BBC Casualty, Childrens TV and various plays and films)
Morgan Grenfell
We installed two large dealing room boards which is continually updated with
the very latest stocks and shares information. (Display in other dealing rooms
include: Morgan Stanley, Lehman Bros and Kansallis Osake Panki)
Flight Information Display Systems (FIDS)
We have installed systems at many airports including Heathrow, Gatwick, Norwich,
Stansted and many airports abroad. Theatres Various LED Displays have been
installed into many Theatres showing latest box office or promotional information.
We have displays installed at the British Old Vic, the Globe Theatre, Royal
Festival Hall and many more.
Vodac
A custom designed and built external sign was installed for Racal, the display
surround was in the shape of a pager with an LED message strip. The sign was
linked to a pager system giving up to the minute Traffic News to motorists
on a busy road.
Party Conferences
For many years we have hired out displays to the major political parties including
the Conservative Party, the Labour Party and the Social Democrats for the duration
of the Party Conferences. (Displays have also been hired for Nato Conferences
and many Company Launches.) |
