Las Vegas casino achieves 'green' status with help of LEDs
A major Las Vegas casino has incorporated the use of LED lighting to ensure it sparkles at night.
The Palazzo, in Las Vegas, has been lit-up by LEDs using ETC products which have ensured that the casino is a definite fixture on the night-time landscape.
In addition, the ETC technology allows the LED lights to be dimmed to conserve power and this has helped the building be classified as silver in accordance with Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design certification.
Designers of the lighting, Kaplan Gehring McCarroll Architectural Lighting (KGM), revealed that correct placing of the LEDs was an intricate process.
Martin van Koolbergen, partner at KGM, said: "You're no longer dealing with space as a box. In certain areas, you have to counter the intensity of the natural light and balance it with up-lighting and decorative features.
"A lot depended on the use of energy-efficient lamps and sources, and the ETC control system with its dimming capacity."
The casino opened its doors last December and is the tallest in Las Vegas.
