LEDs shine a light at London bus stops

Transport for London have hit upon a bright idea by agreeing a $1.1 million deal that will see LED lighting installed at bus stops across the capital.The energy-efficient LEDs are currently fitted in over 3,000 sites across London, with the new agreement ensuring that the technology will now be available to commuters at approximately 3,000 more bus stops.Carmanah Technologies Corporation will be responsible for rolling out the solar powered system, which recently received the "Judges' Citation" Innovation Award at the LIGHTFAIR International event.

Sports scoreboards: Cardiff teams sign stadium agreement

New scoreboards are expected to feature heavily at a £46 million stadium that will be the future home of Cardiff City and Cardiff Blues.The two teams have agreed a ground sharing deal that will run until 2029 before being reviewed.Construction of the 25,000 seater venue, which is located in the Leckwith area of the city, is expected to be complete ahead of the 2009-10 season.
