LED streetlamp project launched in China

The first and so far most successful of China's Special Economic Zones has embraced the use of LED street lamps in its high-tech industrial park.LED lamps will initially be installed along one of the roads in the park in the city of Shenzhen, with a view to being rolled out across the entire site.Shenzhen SED will be making the lamps, which will use LEDs made by the German company OSRAM.

LED usage goes beyond scoreboards

The wide-ranging uses of light emitting diodes (LEDs) were further highlighted today as Enfis announced a three-year contract with Chongqing Tianhai Medical Equipment.Under the deal worth $2.15 million Enfis will supply the medical equipment manufacturer with high colour render index LED light engines.Enfis, which creates high-power LED arrays and smart light engines, won the contract through their recently opened office in Shanghai.

Samsung invests in new LED display technology

Samsung has today said it is increasing production of a new type of LED display six-fold spending nearly $550 million according to Reuters.The new technology - active-matrix organic light-emitting diode (AM-OLED) display - is being heralded as a future replacement for liquid crystal displays (LCDs).AM-OLED displays are said to be slimmer and more efficient than LCDs, but also of a higher quality.
