School finds funds for sports scoreboard
A school in Canada is reaping the benefits of an annual fundraising event supporting its drive to buy a new electronic sports scoreboard.
Blenheim Bobcats raised a total of $10,500 at a yearly fundraising dinner and auction last weekend, the Chatham Daily News reports.
The money raised brings the total up to $30,000 and allows an order for the scoreboard to be submitted this week.
Bleheim District High school football, soccer and rugby teams are set to benefit from the new technology.
And Bobcats football coach Brian Pugh told the newspaper that the scoreboard will be installed ready for the start of the senior football season this autumn.
Not content with raising $30,000, the Bobcats fundraising will now continue.
The next item on the team's list is a spotters' tower, costing around $35,000.
Schools, colleges and sports teams around the globe are increasingly turning to the latest LED sports scoreboard technology.
Lancashire basketball team, the Chorley Cougars, were recently given £296 from the Chorley and District Sports Forum for a new sports scoreboard with the aim of encouraging more youngsters to take up the sport.
