New production sign potential at Telford dairy factory

New production sign potential at Telford dairy factory The construction of a new £40 million factory in Shropshire signals new potential for productions signs in the area.

Work has commenced on the dairy factory in Telford for Austrian dairy company Nom, the BBC reports.

The plant at Donnington Wood Retail Park will employ 100 people in its infancy, climbing to as many as 600 in the next five years.

Producing and packaging yoghurt, the factory will supply supermarkets across the UK including Asda, Netto and Aldi.

It is expected that the factory will start production by Christmas.

The opening of the new factory comes as a boost to the dairy industry which witnessed job cuts at a major dairy firm recently.

Milk Link announced it is to cut 45 jobs at its Kirkcudbright plant in Scotland as well as staff in Crediton, Devon this weekend, both of whom produce milk and long-life milk products.
