LEDs could boost house prices

LEDs could boost house prices Installing LED lights in homes could boost their value, according to construction experts.

A study by the US's Department of Energy revealed that 75 per cent of constructors believe that LED lights can add value to homes.

Researchers replaced traditional lighting in some homes with LED bulbs and asked construction experts to offer their opinions on the newly-installed technology.

The majority of experts stated that the LED lights offered better visibility than other bulbs.

"They gave the LED downlight high marks for brightness and most felt the LEDs were the same as or an improvement over the halogen and incandescent lamps in terms of shadows and glare," reveals the report.

In addition to improving the value of the homes the LED lighting also uses less power than previous-installed bulbs.

Further figures from the report show that the LED bulbs used 82 per cent less energy than incandescent lights.

The Telegraph has advised homeowners to invest in LED Christmas lights this year to save money.
