New York City's biggest LED board unveiled

New York City's biggest LED board unveiled The biggest LED board in New York will be unveiled today in Times Square.

Containing 12 million LED lights, the sign has been installed on One Times Square which provides the location for the traditional New Year's Eve ceremony where a ball is dropped from a great height.

The surface of the LED board measures approximately 27,000 square feet and is 341-feet high.

Smaller screens measuring 25-feet encircle the larger screen which its constructors, D3 LED, state will provide more space for advertising.

The boards have a total of 12 million LED bulbs that will beam images around the famous square.

George Pappas, from the construction company, states that the boards will make an impact on visitors to the area.

"We're running more LEDs off a single control system than have ever been run before," he told the Sacramento Bee.

"It's absolutely spectacular."

The ball used at the square to welcome in the New Year has recently been installed with 32,000 LED lights.
