Projection displays LED market growth
Growth in the LED market will be 20 per cent or more for the next several years, according to an industry expert.
The claim was made by Raja Parvez, chief executive of Rubicon Technology, who believes the growth will be because of the expanding number of applications for LEDs.
"High-performance LED applications, such as large area backlight units and solid state lighting, are growing rapidly," said Mr Parvez.
"LED backlight units are penetrating into the notebook computer and LCD TV market faster than expected.
"These applications are being supported by major LED chip manufacturers in Japan, Europe, and the US, and as a result, our sales continue to increase in these regions."
Rubicon is a manufacturer of monocrystalline sapphire substrates which are used in the growth of LEDs and the company gets 60 per cent of its revenue from the LED market.
Its LED revenue grew 14 per cent year-over-year and eight per cent sequentially.
