'Sunlight wall' incorporates LED technology
An artist has unveiled an LED light project which she claims will help improve the quality of life for sick people.
Sandra Decker, from Manchester, was inspired to create a "sunlight wall" after she lost most of her sight in an accident.
The artist formed her own company, Leolight, and started working on her project which uses LED lights to mimic the sun.
Ms Decker explains that the device aids cell restoration in sick people just like the sun does.
"The wall will reproduce the physiological effects of being in sunlight. When you sit in front of it you are moved into a meditative state," she told the Manchester Evening News.
"It will help people in hospital heal because indoors they don't get enough light for cell restoration - artificial light doesn't give you the energy to function properly."
Researchers from the University of Ulm, in Germany, recently revealed that LED lighting can help change the chemical make-up of skin in a way that reduces wrinkles.
