Milwaukee Arts Centre "given a new face" by LED lighting
Milwaukee's Marcus Centre for the Performing Arts has been given a facelift after the venue fitted 900 new LED lights.
The state-of-the-art lighting fixtures, which were partly funded by the Argosy Foundation, will enable the building to be bathed in millions of different hues suited to particular events.
The digitally programmed lighting scheme is inspired by the work of local artist Georgia O'Keefe.
Paul Gregory, of Focus Lighting Inc., remarked that his design was informed by a desire to use lighting in a way "that mirrors the creativity of the performing arts".
Paul Mathews, the Centre's president, said: "Not only have we been given a new face, but one that can be aesthetically tuned through colour and light to coincide with performances, holidays and other special occasions."
The Marcus Centre was opened in 1969 and now hosts a number of local arts groups including the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, Florentine Opera, Milwaukee Ballet and First Stage Children's Theatre.
