Sport's star to switch on LED lights
A West Yorkshire town will be visited by a sport's star this weekend when he switches on its LED light display.
England Cricketer Matthew Hoggard is paying a visit to Bingley in order to turn on the town's Christmas lights.
This year the town has received donations of £10,000 from local councillors for the LED lights which will stay on all year.
The LED lights are to decorate Christmas trees in addition to new bulbs being strung from the town's streetlights.
David Dinsey, town centre manager, told the Telegraph and Argus: "This year festive lights will adorn all the newly-installed lampposts along the full length of Main Street.
"We are also installing new LED lighting to 22 trees in Jubilee Gardens, around the Bingley Arts Centre which, when lit, will remain so all year round."
Experts from LEDtrees state that Christmas trees installed with LED technology use 90 per cent less energy than those decorated with traditional bulbs.
