World's third largest observation wheel to get LED lights

World's third largest observation wheel to get LED lights An Australian observation wheel adorned with LED lights is expected to boost tourism.

Proposals for the attraction reveal that it will measure 120-metres in height giving visitors to Melbourne a birds-eye view of the city.

The wheel, called the Southern Star, is to be constructed at Melbourne's Waterfront City area and is likely to draw up to 1.5 million visitors in its first 12 months.

Tourists will be able to appreciate the views while taking a 30-minute ride in the wheel's cabins.

Southern Star, constructors of the wheel, reveals that LED technology is to provide nightly light shows via 3.7 kilometres of LED lighting.

Fred Maybury, chairman of the company, stated that the LED observation wheel is likely to prove popular with visitors to the region and beyond.

"It is a significant development, with great potential to increase inbound tourism to Melbourne and to other destinations in Australia," he said.

The wheel is scheduled for completion at the end of this month.
