LED 'canvas' unveiled
An interactive light wall featuring 1,420 LEDs has been launched in a waiting room at a US hospital.
The Imagination Light Canvas, displayed in the women's and children's waiting area at Mercy Medical Center in Rogers, Ark, allows patients and visitors to "paint with light" using their hands.
Measuring some 14 ft x six-ft, the wall uses touch screen technology, allowing images to last a few minutes before they disappear.
The technology is also supremely energy efficient, consuming the daily energy equivalent of the average toaster.
"We wanted our gift to harness some of our advanced technologies that would provide the area residents with a positive, healing experience," Paul Zeven, chief executive of Philips Electronics which donated the wall to the hospital, said.
"We created the Imagination Light Canvas
to lessen the tension, anxiety and stress that families often experience when waiting for child birth," he added.
Up to six adults and children can use the wall at any one time.
