£600k LED screen set for convention centre
A giant LED screen costing a massive £670,000 is to be installed at a major convention centre in Pakistan.
Government officials have approved the new technology at the Jinnah Convention Centre in Islamabad, the Pakistan Daily Times reports.
The screen, which will measure 16ft by 24ft with an eight millimetre pixel pitch, will replace an existing solid-state screen that was deemed too small for the uses of the centre.
The former screen had a poor picture quality, particularly in the presence of high illumination television lights, compared to its new LED replacement.
Approval for the project, which is expected to be completed in around three months, was granted at a central development working party meeting earlier this month.
Built in 1997 with a state-of-the-art public address and display facilities along with central antenna and management systems, the Jinnah Convention Centre regularly hosts important international meetings, such as the World Islamic Forum Conference.
