Mr Peanut beamed from LED screen
A famous American advertising icon is being used to boost sales of peanuts with the help of LED technology.
Mr Peanut, who wears top hat and tails, was created for Kraft's Planters nuts in 1916.
A recent overhaul of the icon's image is currently being displayed on LED boards in New York's Times Square.
Visitors to the square can currently see Mr Peanut being beamed from an LED screen that measures 11-foot by 17-foot.
The display changes regularly and one image makes it appear as if the icon is offering passersby peanuts.
Jason Barak, provider of the LED technology, revealed that the images are likely to impress the public.
"The new spectacular incorporates the world's most powerful and digitally advanced sign technology, resulting in superior graphics that push the 'wow' factor," he said.
"As consumers have become savvier in the media they consume, brands look for this type of edge to stay ahead of the crowd."
Planters has been producing snacks since 1906 and currently sells over ten different kinds.
