Located in the Dubai Mall, the ice rink is currently under construction and once finished it will be Olympic-sized.
A 1.5 inch layer of ice will be laid which is three times thicker then that found in National Hockey league venues in the US.
In addition to being used as a public ice rink, other events such as figure skating, concerts and sports games are scheduled for the venue.
An LED screen measuring 20-metres by ten-metres will be installed in order to beam the action occur in the rink area to the audience.
Yousif Al Ali, general manager of the Dubai Mall, stated that the venue is likely to be an international hit.
"With its Olympic-size proportions, Dubai Ice Rink meets international competition standards and is capable of hosting world-class ice skating and international hockey matches," he said.
Dubai will also see the largest LED screen in the world being installed on the 33-storey Podium building.
