LED display takes centre stage at Michigan International Speedway
It was out with the old and in with the new as Michigan International Speedway upgraded their scoreboard system.
A new LED display, stretching 110-feet-wide, has been added to the Infield Care Center as a replacement for a 40-year-old scoreboard.
MIS president Roger Curtis said: "Although it was the end of an era for the old scoreboard, it is the beginning of a new one with the new LED scoreboard.
"We're very excited about the potential of this board and what it will be able to do on a race weekend."
The innovative scoring system is expected to be up and running ahead of the LifeLock 400 race weekend between June 13th and 15th. It will be trialled at the ARCA RE/MAX Series test session on May 28th to ensure everything is up to speed..
MIS, which opened 40 years ago, is amongst the fastest tracks on the NASCAR circuit with cornering speeds of over 200 mph.
