Liverpool fans continue wait for stadium plans

Liverpool fans continue wait for stadium plans Reds supporters continue to wait for confirmation of the final designs for Liverpool Football Club's new stadium.

According to spokesperson for owner Tom Hicks, the bidding war on designs for Liverpool FC's new home is currently making "excellent progress" and the results could be revealed within the next week.

Mr Hicks travelled to New York with his partner George Gillett and chief executive Rick Parry for a series of meetings last week to receive presentations from two architectural firms pitching their plans for Stanley Park.

Manchester-based AFL and Dallas-based HKS are both bidding for the contract to build Liverpool's new stadium, expected to hold around 70,000 people, and offering massive potential for new video boards and scoreboards to be installed when complete.

"We had two very detailed and very informative presentations which were very thorough and extremely professional," Mr Hicks said

"It has been another big step forward to finding the best possible solution and the whole meeting was very constructive.

"Whichever we do go with, it will be an excellent result."

Mr Hicks yesterday denied reports that he is to sell his 50 per cent stake in the club to Dubai International Capital (Dic), as he and Mr Gillett look to refinance the club's debts of £350 million.
