New scoreboard for Columbus Clippers
The Columbus Clippers are to get a new scoreboard after Franklin County commissioners approved the plans.
There have been 25 contracts for the team's new Downtown stadium, and the scoreboard construction is the last, reports Columbus Local News.
And the commissioners were enthusiastic in their approval, looking forward to when the baseball team will begin playing in their new stadium.
"I'm very proud that this is a world-class procurement," Paula Brooks, a commissioner, was quoted as saying in the newspaper.
"It's going to be fun to see this scoreboard when we open next year."
The scoreboard will measure 91 feet by 25 feet and will have a video screen which will be 31 feet by 18 feet.
Live or pre-recorded footage will both be able to appear on the video screen and the images should be as good as a high-definition television.
It will also be able to act as a message board after games and between innings, with ticker displays to show spectators news, sports results and weather updates.
