Sports Scoreboards: Baseball side treated to diamond display
Major League Baseball fans are being treated to one of the largest LED scoreboards in the world.
The Arizona Diamondbacks have installed a new high definition video screen, measuring 136 feet wide and 46 feet high, at their Chase Field home in Phoenix.
"The Diamondbacks and the Maricopa County Stadium District are extremely pleased to bring the latest high definition technology to Chase Field with one of the most innovative displays in major league baseball," said Derrick Hall, president of the Diamondbacks.
The $14 million centrefield scoreboard consists of two widescreen panels, which will showcase replays, statistics and action across the ballpark.
There has also been significant investment on renovating 21 luxury suites at the 49,000 seater stadium, while children are now catered for with the fun Sandlot area along the upper concourse in left field.
The Diamondbacks will be attempting to defend their NL West title during the 2008 season.
