Sports scoreboards: Budding paralympians sought
The search has started for potential paralympian medal winners whose names could appear on sports scoreboards at London's 2012 Olympic Games in just five years time.
ParalympicsGB is seeking top disabled athletes on a special talent identification day being held on April 12th, in a bid to fast-track gifted sportsmen and women into sport.
Trials in athletics, powerlifting, judo and rowing will be held at Brunel University for athletes from varying disability groups.
People with cerebral palsy, visually impaired, spinal cord injuries, amputees or dwarfism aged 15 to 35-years-old all have the chance to represent their country.
"This is a fantastic opportunity for us to identify talent to complement our existing group of talented sportsmen and women," Tabo Huntley, talent pathways officer at ParalympicsGB, said.
"With just over four years until the London 2012 Paralympic Games and around two years until the Vancouver Winter Paralympics in 2010 we still have time to identify exceptionally talented athletes who can be fast-tracked to success in a number of sports.
"It doesn't matter if you've never played these sports before we are looking for general sporting ability and a desire to win," he said.
