Sports scoreboards: Stanhope Elmore High School upgrades facilities
Stanhope Elmore High School is planning to install a new state-of-the-art scoreboard as part of a major overhaul of its sporting facilities on campus.
The 2006 baseball state champions will install the screen over the upcoming months. The school's Mustangs football team will gain additional dug-outs, a press box and a locker room at their nearby venue.
A new gymnasium capable of hosting both the Lady Mustang volleyball side and boys' and girls' basketball teams is also in the process of being constructed. The $3.5 million development will feature a fitness centre for pupils and separate coaching offices.
"It's exciting to see all that is being done here," said Jeff Foshee, Stanhope Elmore High School athletic director.
"Waiting is the tough part though. But seeing that things are moving along helps."
The gymnasium is expected to be complete early next year while the renovation of the football field will be finished by autumn.
