Atlanta gets USA's largest electronic display

Atlanta gets USA's largest electronic display The largest freeway-mounted electronic display in the USA was switched on in Atlanta yesterday morning – facing one of the USA's most heavily-used freeways.

Over 341,000 vehicles pass the LED sign each day according to the Georgia Department of Transportation.

The 3,500 square feet electronic sign is owned by Barry Real Estate, and the first companies to be advertised on it included AT&T and Turner Broadcasting System.

Billboards have been on the site for the last 50 years, but the new structure has a programmable LED display which allows changes to be made instantly and adverts to be displayed depending on time and traffic patterns.

Ten per cent of the advert time will be reserved for public service messages, and the sign will also feature 'Amber Alerts' – pictures and information on children who have gone missing.

The display will be mounted on the interstate 75/85 downtown connector, which connects two major roads.

Interstate 85 runs through five states and interstate 75 runs through six, taking many drivers from the north east of the USA to sunny Florida - and exposing many to the advertising on the sign as a result.ADNFCR-1437-ID-18664143-ADNFCR
